Ski Season Recap...
Well, it's been quite a while since I've updated this thing, so this is going to be a tad long... Ski season this year was increadible. I skied more days than I ever have, and got to take 2 trips out west. Without further delay, lets get to it...
Started the season on my new skiis at Hunter Mountain in the Catskills. Dign't get any pics, but had a great day adjusting to the new equipment. After that, I had a great 3 day stretch at Seven Springs, back home in western PA. Tony came up for the last day, and I got this shot of him riding the lift with me.
After a couple days at home catching up with the family and old friends, it was off to the Pocono's to hang out with the swim team alumn. We got to spend a couple days in an amazing ski house, drinking lots booze and enjoying the views. I got a half day of slush skiing in, but at a private ski resort, I almost had the place to myself.
After some time off in January, February brought 2 awesome trips up to the Killington area. The first, we spent 2 days at K-mart, and the second, I got my first taste of Mad River Glenn. Above is Truax checking out the view from the top of Paradise, and me, just before launching myself off of that nasty looking cliff. Didn't land it, but I survived intact :) Definately some of the best terrain I've skied. Awesome glades, and very challenging trails.
Here's the view of the house we had (both weekends, by coincidence) at sunrise, and a shot of Truax, Larry, and Sergey skiing the woods at Killington. The top of the run was great, but the bottom got a little rough...

So, we couldn't let the season go by without a quick trip to Ski Sundown. One of northern CT's mountains, there's not a whole lot of vertical, but they had a great bump run, and this one, with a great view of the valley below.
Next we have one of the 2 best trips of the year. Beckett, Truax, Larry and I made the trip up to Jay Peak in northern VT. This peak is practically in Canada, but was totally worth the drive. Our frist run on Saturday morning was waist deep powder on a groomer. As anyone who skis the east coast knows, this is a rarity. The weekend just kept getting better as we explored the massive glades that Jay had to offer. Above are Larry and Greg making some nice tight turns in the trees.

Mid march wrapped up the ski season with a second trip to Tahoe. Larry and I got in 3 amazing days of skiing, and Drew and Jenny joined us for days 2 and 3. Above we have Larry on the drive to Tahoe, posing at Donner lake along I-80. And we have a shot of the depth marker at Alpine Meadows... That's right, they had 227" of snow in mid-March.
Here's a shot of me in one of Alpine's many bowls. It was an awesome powder day, and there were very few people on the slopes. We wrapped it up with a shot of us at the sign...
Day two took us to Squaw Valley. What can I say about this place. Huge vertical, and an expanse of area to ski. The day brought us blue skies, and some great views from the top. On one run, Larry had the misfortune of snapping one of his poles clean in half... Drew demonstrates its new usefullness...
These shots are from the last run of the day. The legs were hurting pretty bad, but Larry talked me into one more run from the top of Squaw Peak all the way to the bottom. That's about 2000 vertical feet, with a huge bowl to hit at the top, but it did make for an awesome pic at the top.
Our final day, and my last of the season, we hit Kirkwood, south of Tahoe. The show was still powdery, and this place had some nice terrain. I can imagine why everyone loves this place on a powder day... Got a nice shot of Drew and Jenny too... By the end though, we were totally whiped out, as Larry can attest below... What a great season, can't wait for next year!
